Princeton public safety building foundation work advances
Princeton announced Oct. 23 that the foundation and slabs for the new public safety building have been poured, with power and septic work underway before winter.
The Town of Princeton announced Oct. 23 that construction continues on the new public safety building, with the foundation in place and slabs under the apparatus bays and office areas poured.
Princeton Municipal Light Department has placed a new utility pole to serve the building, and the conduit carrying power to the site has been encased in concrete under the driveway. Work has also begun on the septic system and other underground structures that need to be completed before the ground freezes.
Aside from construction, the project team continues to meet regularly to work through issues. That group includes architects CBA, owners project manager Vertex, Chief Bennett, Chief Patriarca, and a working group made up of Ian Catlow, Phil Connors, Carl Soderberg and Karen Cruise.
The team has also been finalizing details on information technology and communication needs for the new building. One topic under discussion is communication between the new building, the regional dispatch center in Holden, and a communication antenna location referred to as "the mountain." The town said this topic was discussed during the design process, when projected costs were determined and included in the budget. The remaining work is to finalize the exact equipment needed and timing for purchases.
The town said more information and photos of the project are available on the Public Safety Building project page.
